I'm not sure about other connector types, but soldering deans seems a hit or a miss if the terminals move, I generally like to think I'm halfway decent at soldering and am not using roasting temps. They are way better than the hardware store helping hands. However, the prices for these two products fluctuates and they are both great miniature painting holders. The Green Stuff World Work Holder on Stand is a direct competitive with the off-brand Universal Work Holder (5). ![]() I've always just used the opposite sex connector and clamped onto it with a set or helping hands like these (I actually have one off ebay, but similar) Green Stuff World Work Holder on Stand for Sculpting Support Miniature Hobby. Soldering to ground planes on a circuit board is a total pita, I can only imagine trying to get a good joint when there is a massive aluminum block clamped onto the terminal I want to solder. I know you weren't asking for other recommendations, But something is telling me clamping onto your connector with a gigantic heatsink isn't the best idea for soldering.
